WAGNER Group Completes Template Rollout in China

Kick-off for global SAP rollout project

Complex Regional Requirements

Successful mechanical and plant engineering company J. Wagner GmbH has always been globally oriented, is successfully represented on all continents, and continues to grow. But because of acquisitions in recent years, the company’s IT landscape had grown inorganically, with heterogeneous business processes in different countries. This resulted in greater complexity, a lack of transparency, and a lack of comparability between entities. To support its continued growth, WAGNER decided to gradually implement SAP software at all companies in the Group. A template was therefore developed to cover the processes of the central business units. The next step was to roll out the template at the Group’s location in China. Above all, this ambitious project required cbs’ extensive experience in global rollouts and knowledge of complex region-specific requirements, including the specific reporting requirements and the Golden Tax system.

The first step was to establish efficient template processes in WAGNER’s Decorative Finishing and Industrial Solutions divisions (including the WAGNER-internal consumer, contractor, and industry business units) based on the current processes at the central locations in Markdorf and Altstätten. These were then coordinated across sectors with the business process owners. The next step was to define the processes relevant for China. Stefanie Stiefel, IT Applications Director: “The particular challenge we faced in the China rollout was to reconcile a global SAP template with the complex local requirements in this region.”
